Hello!

At a certain age, a person discovers two important facts about the world. The first is that creation is far more interesting than we noticed when we were younger and in a hurry.

The second is that hurrying was probably overrated.

I am determined to make some time for exploring things—mountains that have stood around minding their own business for centuries, skies so amazing that even the trees want to clap their hands, and trails that lead somewhere exciting, or nowhere.

My role in all this is mostly observational. I take a few notes and pictures and then try to share what I saw, eyes wide and hands flapping.

If you enjoy noticing the odd, the wonderful, and the quietly amusing, you are very welcome here. Pull up a chair and join the exploration.

Curiosity...on!

It was the perfect plan. Escape the two coldest weeks of winter by visiting friends in Arizona. My travel companion was a lady from a local golf league, whom I didn't know well. We were going to visit other ladies from the golf league, and I knew them even less. But, it was an escape. When you are escaping, every step is moving you away from the undesirable (cold, gray days) and toward something better (warm sunny days).

The days are getting longer! WOOHOO!!! I love noticing how the sun comes up a little earlier and sets a little later each day. Summer is approaching! Summer days are long—you have enough time to mow the lawn, build a deck, teach your dog how to waterski, and still have daylight left over to wonder why you’re so tired.
